This urn is made from Black Limba and Wenge. Black Limba, a very ornamental wood native to Tropical western Africa, has a spectacular grain pattern and rich, varying colours. Wenge, a premium hardwood from Central Africa, is a dense hardwood known for its dark brown to almost black color, often featuring contrasting light streaks and a coarse texture with a straight grain.

The centre panel of Black Limba on the top is framed with bands of Black Limba, separated and defined by black veneer.

Except for black veneer, no stains or dyes have been used. The rich colours that you see are the natural colours of the finished woods.

Interior and exterior are finished with an Osmo microporous wood oil. The resultant low-lustre finish is smooth, durable, and appealing.

Overall exterior dimensions are about 11.8" x 9.8" x 4.0" (29.9 x 24.8 x 10.2 cm).

Internal dimensions are about 9.5" x 7.5" x 3.0" (24.1 x 19.1 x 7.6 cm).

Internal capacity is 200 cubic inches ( 3.3 L).

Access is from bottom which is secured with 6 screws.

Mitred corners reinforced with Wenge keys.

Sides are solid 3/4" (19 mm) thick Black Limba

Centre panel on the top is made from solid 1/8" (3 mm) thick Black Limba, laminated to 1/4" (6.4 mm) solid core plywood.
