CUSTOM TOY CHESTS                  from $225 

Create a personalized toy chest:-  ~ add a child's name ~ choose from one of our themes ~ choose your colour scheme for the name and decorative pieces. We can make the perfect toy chest for you. Each is handmade by us and is our original design. The chest is handcrafted by Jim. The decorative three-dimensional pieces and letters are individually hand cut and hand painted by Kathy.    Base price is $225 which includes a durable, solid pine, completely finished toy chest with:- ~ a child's name (up to 10 letters) ~ two decorative pieces from one     of our  themes  (add $10 for each     additional piece) ~ your choice of colour scheme for the      name and decorative pieces.   We do not have an inventory of ready-to-go toy chests. Each is custom built. Please allow 4-6 weeks for yours to be made.

The toy chest base is about 29" by 19.5" and 12" high. Interior dimensions are about 27.5" by 18" and 11.5" deep.  The lid is about 30" by 20" and overlaps three sides by about 1/2". 

The lid and sides are made from solid 3/4" pine. The lid has two solid pine cross-braces on the inside to control wood movement and prevent warping. The sides are solidly joined with biscuits and glue. The bottom is 1/4" MDF, mortised and glued into the sides to make the base very sturdy. 

The lid is attached with two hinges and is secured with two strong steel stays to prevent the lid from slamming down. The hinges and stays have a statuary bronze finish.

The pine is left natural, sanded smooth and finished with Danish Oil, a penetrating resin. A rich patina develops on the natural pine over time.
