ZEBRAWOOD JEWELRY BOX WITH 1 DRAWER

This is a one of a series of three mid-sized one-drawer jewelry boxes from a design that I conceived. This box was made from Zebrawood and Black Walnut. The other two were Cherry and Lacewood.

You will find that the interior has ample space for everything, from small to large: earrings, cufflinks, necklaces, watches, even cell phones and PDAs.

The Zebrawood selected for this box has a spectacular grain pattern that flows around all four sides. The Black Walnut blends beautifully to complete the composition.

Notice how the interior of the top is finished as beautifully as the exterior. That takes extra time and material. But, the result is well worth it.

The drawer sides and dividers in the interior are made from solid Cherry wood.

No stains or dyes have been used. The rich colours that you see are the natural colours of the woods, enhanced by the oil and wax.

SPECIFICATIONS

Dimensions:

Overall exterior dimensions are about 11.75" x 9.75" x 4.25"

The interior of the upper level is about 9.5" x 7.5" and about 1.25" deep.

The interior of the drawer is about 8.25" x 7.25" and about 1" deep.

Finish:

Interior and exterior are finished with Danish Oil, a penetrating resin. Exterior is further finished with a three-stage wax process, the final stage being carnuba. The resultant finish is smooth, durable, and appealing.

Accent wood:

Black Walnut

Exterior:

Tongue & groove joints secure the Black Walnut corners to the Zebrawood sides.

Sides are solid 1/2" thick Zebrawood.

Base and top panel rails are made of Black Walnut.

Black Walnut drawer pulls.

Top is made of 1/8" Zebrawood, bordered with Black Walnut and Zebrawood, and laminated to both sides of 1/8" 3-ply plywood. This construction not only makes the interior of the top as attractive as the exterior, but also prevents warping of the top.

Interior:

Solid brass quadrant hinges.

Drawer sides and dividers are solid Cherry.

Interior is lined with a luxurious faux suede.
