This is a one of a series of four large one-drawer jewelry boxes from a design I conceived. This box was made from Eucalyptus and Black Walnut, with Purpleheart inlay on top.

You will find that the interior has ample space for everything, from small to large: earrings, cufflinks, necklaces, watches, even cell phones and PDAs.

The Eucalyptus wood selected for this box has a spectacular grain pattern that flows around all four sides. The Black Walnut and Purpleheart add a dramatic flair to this composition.

The trays, dividers and runners in the interior are made from solid Eucalyptus wood.

Notice how the interior of the top is finished as beautifully as the exterior. That takes extra time and material. But, the result is well worth it.

No stains or dyes have been used. The rich colours that you see are the natural colours of the woods, enhanced by the oil and wax.

SPECIFICATIONS

Dimensions:

Overall exterior dimensions are about 14.25" x 9.5" x 5.25"

The interior of the upper level is about 13.25" x 8.5" with two layers:-

The top layer has two removable trays, each about 1" deep.

The bottom layer is about 1.25" deep

The interior of the drawer is about 11.5" x 8" and about 1" deep

Finish:

Interior and exterior are finished with Danish Oil, a penetrating resin. Exterior is further finished with a three-stage wax process, the final stage being carnuba. The resultant finish is smooth, durable, and appealing.

Accent wood:

Black Walnut and Purpleheart

Exterior:

Solid brass drawer pulls with matching Eucalyptus wood inserts.

Tongue & groove joints secure the Black Walnut corners to the Eucalyptus sides.

Sides are solid 1/2" thick Eucalyptus.

Top is made of 1/8" Eucalyptus, bordered with Purpleheart and Black Walnut, and laminated to both sides of 1/8" 3-ply plywood. This construction not only makes the interior of the top as attractive as the exterior, but also prevents warping of the top.

Interior:

Solid brass quadrant hinges.

Tray sides, dividers and runners are solid Eucalyptus.

Drawer, trays and bottoms are lined with an embroidered faux suede.
